On August 7, the 7th National Quartz Sand Supply-Demand Conference for Slab Manufacturing was held in Zaozhuang, Shandong Province. Hosted by China Powder Network, the event focused on addressing key challenges in the quartz surface industry, easing supply-demand imbalances, and exploring new avenues for growth. More than 300 industry professionals from across China attended, representing slab manufacturers, quartz sand processors, equipment suppliers, research institutes, industry associations, and other participants throughout the value chain.
Gelandy was invited to attend the conference. Chairman Tian Yu and Purchasing Manager Hu Yufang each delivered a presentation and exchanged insights with fellow industry professionals.
Gelandy Chairman Tian Yu delivered a presentation titled "The Impact of Food-Grade Countertop Standards on the Future Development of China's Quartz Surface Industry." He provided a systematic overview of the origins of food-grade countertops, product categories, the standard's key requirements, and its far-reaching implications for the industry.
The emergence of food-grade countertops has encouraged quartz sand suppliers, resin producers, quartz surface manufacturers, and the industry as a whole to place greater emphasis on product safety and health performance, helping drive product upgrades and healthier industry development. From defining the "food-grade countertop" category in 2024 to the full market launch of Food-Grade Countertop 2.0 in 2026, Gelandy has spent two years turning the safety principle that "countertops can come into direct contact with food" from a brand initiative into a direction increasingly embraced by industry peers.
After the conference, Tian was also invited to join an interview for China Powder Network's Dialogue program, where he discussed trends in quartz surface development, technological achievements, standards development, and market prospects with industry experts.
Gelandy Purchasing Manager Hu Yufang shared the company's experience in applying quartz sand and powder in engineered quartz slabs. She systematically explained their application characteristics and impact on slab performance, noting that quartz is used primarily as a filler to provide bulk, increase slab hardness, and improve wear resistance. Drawing on Gelandy's production experience, she also analyzed how the quality of quartz sand and powder affects slab quality and how upstream raw-material suppliers and slab manufacturers can build more efficient supply-demand coordination. She noted that quartz surface manufacturers can introduce more refined grading of upstream raw ore according to different customers' quality requirements, thereby improving ore utilization and reducing sand and powder costs.
Building on Core Principles Through Innovation, Gelandy Continues to Advance Industry Standards
The quartz surface industry is currently at a critical stage of transformation and upgrading. Weak market demand, intense price competition, and product homogenization are unlikely to change in the short term. Against this backdrop, Gelandy remains committed to its food-grade strategy and uses standards development to drive product upgrades.
As the company that defined China's "food-grade countertop" category, Gelandy has been commissioned by the China Stone Association to organize the drafting of a food-grade countertop standard. Looking ahead, Gelandy will continue to deepen its expertise in food-grade countertops, use standards to guide the industry's healthy development, and create higher-quality, healthier countertop solutions for consumers through differentiated products and services.
"GELANDY" is a senior well-known and excellent manufacturer in China specializing in R & D, production and sales of Solid Surface and Quartz stone.
